Not everyone at a civil engineering firm is all about formulas and math. It takes a mix of minds to keep things structurally sound. Take Ashley Wolgast, for example. As a recent addition to our Project Coordinator team, her role is key to keeping our people on task and the project on schedule and on budget. This month, we chatted with Ashley about her unique path to Keller, staying calm under pressure, and her secret to making a lasting impact.
Can you share a little about your background and what brought you to Keller?
Before stepping into engineering, I served as a 911 Dispatcher in Southern Oregon, and as a Certified Flight Communicator with Life Flight Network in the Boise area. I’ve coordinated covert law enforcement operations, fire incident command posts, Critical Care Air Medical Transport, and provided airspace deconfliction across some of the largest hospitals in the Pacific Northwest and Intermountain States. (Like Harborview Medical Center—Grey’s Anatomy, anyone?)

After welcoming our son, I looked for a career that aligned with both my values and family life. So, I joined the City of Kuna as Public Works Project Coordinator and helped guide development in one of Idaho’s fastest-growing cities.
Soon after, I was thrilled to join Keller Associates as a Project Coordinator. The culture and values (human, unfussy, driven) resonated with me, and the opportunity to increase my responsibility and impact was exciting.
Whether it’s emergency response or civil projects, my mission remains the same: to connect people with the information, systems, and resources they need to do their best work when it matters most.
How would you explain your role to someone outside the industry?
While engineers focus on math and materials, I focus on calendars and connections. Behind every utility located, contract signed, drawing stamped, report formatted, bid posted, meeting held, and contractor ask, I make sure progress stays on schedule, and that nothing slips through the cracks. My coordination support allows the team stay focused on what they do best—engineering solutions that build stronger communities.
What’s something people would be surprised to learn about you?
I dispatched during the most destructive wildfire season in Oregon history. This included the South Obenchain wildfire (33,000 acres, 90 structures) and the urban Almeda Fire, which destroyed more than 2600 homes, 600+ businesses, and claimed nine lives.
How would you describe yourself in three words?
Focused. Dependable. Proactive.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received? How has it influenced your approach to work?
“Little by little, a little becomes a lot.”
– Kaizen, Japanese proverb
I believe small, consistent improvements lead to lasting impact. Anyone can be a leader by taking initiative and influencing positive changes. Another favorite quote of mine is, “whatever you do, work heartily,” which I hope shines through in any work I do.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
I would add a few more hours to each day!!!
Can you share a memorable moment or project from your time here?
I’ve really enjoyed the opportunity to take initiative on development planning for our company Intranet. This side quest has given me the chance to learn a lot about Keller’s vision and to work more closely with folks I typically wouldn’t have the chance to. It also allows me to flex my creativity.
Anything else you’d like to share with the team and our readers?
I make great sourdough bread (when I have the time). I have a small backyard chicken flock and love spending time with my girls. I refill my cup every weekend at church and volunteer in the children’s ministry.

Keller just launched our new series of monthly interviews with team members from across different departments. It’s a fun way to peek behind the curtain, celebrate our people, and highlight the way we show up every day.
